Home Assessments After A Child Is Placed In Your Care
Similar to home visits before you are approved to move forward with your adoption, adoptive families in North Carolina can expect two post-placement home visits to ensure the safety and well-being of an adopted child. To ease your anxiety about this requirement, you may choose to work with the same service provider and social worker you met with prior to bringing your child home.

What Should I Expect During A Post-Placement Assessment?
During your assessment visits, your social worker may ask about your financial situation, changes in relationships, challenges with your child and your progress in bonding.
After your placement, you may also receive additional resources that may prove helpful in providing a continued healthy home environment for your child. These resources may include:
- Referrals to local adoption support groups
- Therapists familiar with adoption
- Information about appropriate cultural programs and language camps
